"Mobility is quality of life."

Peer Poelmann

My name is Peer Poelmann and I work as an orthopedic surgeon at Flexclinics.

For my training, I served as a doctor in military service in the Royal Navy. I did my advanced training as an orthopedic surgeon at the OLVG in Amsterdam.

Since 1998 I am an orthopedic surgeon at the Groene Hart Hospital in Gouda after having trained at the OLVG in Amsterdam. Before my training, I served as a doctor in the Royal Dutch Navy.
In the beginning of my career as an orthopedic surgeon I was still involved in "all orthopedics" but gradually I started to focus on the lower extremity and especially the hip and knee.
In recent years I mainly do hip and knee prosthetics, both primary and also revisions, in addition to sports-related knee injuries (cruciate ligament, meniscus, kneecap etc).

The rewarding thing about working as an orthopedic surgeon is that we can help patients maintain or even give back their independence; so I often tell my patients that "movement is the key to success" and that we can contribute to that by repairing or replacing something that no longer functions so well.

Since 2023, I have also joined Flexclinics: an independent treatment center in Utrecht. In cooperation with Flexclinics we provide high-quality orthopedic but important to know: insured care. We offer this care in a luxurious and peaceful environment, where we are happy to help you without unnecessary waiting lists.
